The Alzheimer's Association provides services and support annually to more than 4 million diagnosed individuals, families, caregiers and professional care providers. Our many valuable programs and services include our 24/7 Helpline, which is staffed by master's-level clinicians who provide reliable guidance and information to more than 300,000 callers nationwide each year; thousands of support groups; and much more. For example, staff from our Shreveport office of the Alzheimer's Association Louisiana Chapter participated in more than 35 radio and television appearances, community health fairs, professional in-service training programs, and family caregiver educational events. We have sponsored and participated in the annual African Americans Alzheimer's Symposium in conjunction with St. Matthew AME Church held in Shreveport each summer. Already in 2017, the Alzheimer's Association hosted a regional "Brain Health: What You Should Know about Brain Nutrition, Dementia Diagnosis, and Alzheimer's Research" seminar in Shreveport.
The Alzheimer's Association is the leading health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. With 81 chapters across America and national offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C., we work relentlessly to advance our mission. Our vision is a world without Alzheimer's disease.
Locally, our office handles calls from constituents every week by providing referral information, disease information, and support for families struggling with Alzheimer's. We work constantly to raise awareness about the disease and improve the lives of those families looking for education, resources, and understanding. We are here to help families in this devastating journey!
