STARBASE Louisiana Inc is seeking funds to extend the scope of middle school engineering projects.
Students code robotic arms while learning body systems, they create and simulate races for virtual CO2 cars then make and race the real thing, code drones to save a lift after studying blood typing, build windmills that generate enough power to light up mini-houses, and they build and code Tetrix robots to solve real world problems. Don't you wish you were still in middle school?!
You may be thinking, "That sounds cool, but what is STARBASE? " So glad you asked! Since 1999, over 38,000 5th graders and over 1,000 middle and high school students have experienced challenging STEM missions and advanced technology applications through the STARBASE Louisiana program. This exciting program is sponsored by the 307th Bomb Wing of the Air Force Reserve at Barksdale Air Force Base. The Department of Defense budget provides for the fifth grade , but does not cover the entire cost of STARBASE 2.0, the middle and high school program. STARBASE Louisiana, Inc. 501c3, extends the outreach and invests in the future workforce of north Louisiana by underwriting the extensive materials costs for the STARBASE 2.0 program. Due to the amazing response during Give for Good in previous years, we have been able to expand our program to more reach even more students.
