The Libbi Thomas Foundation

A nonprofit organization

Advances in function, well-being and life span for people with Down syndrome have revealed additional health risks. As they age individuals with Down syndrome have an increased risk of developing a type of dementia that's either the same or very similar to Alzheimer's disease. Libbi was bright, personable and active. After her parents died, she lived independently until Alzheimer's took the thing, she was most proud of, her independence. Our program strives to educate families and through the foundation will raise funds to financially support research and collaboration of physicians, researchers, caregivers and families and residential facilities in the research studies. It is our hope that children living with Down syndrome won't have the threat of Alzheimer's lurking down the road.

Mission

Supporting scientific discovery, education and research associated with Down syndrome, aging and Alzheimer's disease.
