Since opening our doors in 1996, our passion to educate people of all ages, communities, organizations and policy makers about risky behavior and injury has remained the same. Our ultimate goal is to raise awareness about injury prevention with the hope of saving lives. Why is injury awareness so important? Injuries are the leading cause of death and disability among children, teens and young adults. Our programs cover driving safety issues, such as seat belt education, impaired and distracted driving, and general community safety. While facts and statistics have their place in ThinkFirst's educational programs, it is the personal stories from our Voices for Injury Prevention (VIPs) speakers that resonate with listeners. Our speakers share their life-changing stories of how poor choices resulted in life-altering consequences. Unlike some injuries that will heal over time, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries are permanent.
