In Northwest Louisiana, the YWCA works to provide a comprehensive support system for women and teen girls facing systematic life challenges that include, but are not limited to violence, trauma, bullying, teen pregnancy, racial injustice, and securing living-wage jobs. The programs of the YWCA include LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment and Development) for low-income teen girls, trauma counseling for women and teen girls, advocacy and support for senior women (62 and older) who have been victims of crime, parenting and support for teen moms and DCFS clients, Restart economic empowerment program for women, and Dialogue on Race and other racial justice educational programs.
