The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club, operating since 1904, is only one of a number of programs offered by The Salvation Army in Shreveport-Bossier City, LA. Operating as an affiliate since 1933, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Shreveport offers the nationally-recognized curriculum provided by Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the country. The Club provides year round programming in which children ages 5-18 participate in various activities through educational and recreational programs. The local Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club provides a safe place for area youth after school each day and throughout the summer. Our youth coordinators are focused on enriching the lives of these students.
Taylor, age 8, a student at J.S. Clark Elementary says, " I like the Boys & Girls Club because the great nice and fun teachers help me with my homework and they teach me math and reading".

Tomtieja, a student at Queensbourgh Elementary says, "I like it here because I can play games, they give us free food, and I can have fun with friends. They help us with our homework and on special occasions, we do fun stuff."

Scott McCloud, Advisory Council Member, The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club says, "I attended Boys and Girls Club after school programs when I was a youngster, and I have fond memories of the sports games, field trips, homework help and friendly staff there. When I started my own work career, I wanted to volunteer and give back to my community: serving on the Boys and Girls Club advisory council was my first choice. I enjoy seeing a smiling face on the youth at our Club. These students are in a safe place, have caring staff around them, and are learning to make smart choices for their future. I have now been involved in Boys and Girls Club volunteer opportunities for some 27 years. Come visit us anytime and see how we are on a mission "to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens."
