About Keep Bossier Beautiful

We hit the ground running just three short years ago with a paid executive director and are excited to do this work with the support of many wonderful volunteers and generous donors.  Our hard work was recognized statewide as Keep Bossier Beautiful was selected to receive the 2022 Outstanding Affiliate of the Year Award by Keep Louisiana Beautiful. Keep Bossier Beautiful was chosen out of forty Keep America Beautiful affiliates throughout Louisiana and presented this prestigious award from Governor, John Bell Edwards and Jennifer Lawson, CEO of Keep America Beautiful in Baton Rouge. Since that time our work has been ever increasing as we strive to make Bossier parish clean and green.

Why We Need Your Help

Our area tree canopy has suffered tremendously in recent years from deep freezes, severe droughts and even a hurricane.  We know the tremendous power of trees in our communities. They may be silent, but they hold the power to fight the climate crisis. They work to store carbon and slow gas’s that warm our planet, they work to remove air pollution, they provide shade that helps to cool our communities and serve as a safe habitat for many species.  Keep Bossier Beautiful has successfully planted over 165 trees in the last three years with the help of generous community members, but we need to do more. Will you help us plant more trees?

We are asking for your help to raise $2000 to purchase and plant more trees in our communities.

Recent Highlights of Our Work

In addition to planting trees, we are educating students and adults on the importance of taking care of our environment. That is why we host our Environmentally Aware student seminar to teach students in an interactive setting how to care for our earth and the impact litter makes in our world. We celebrate local businesses with an award for taking care of the exterior of their business and grounds. We pick up litter and a lot of it with the help of many committed volunteers.  In our latest cleanup, Operation Clean Sweep, we removed 9.4 tons of debris and recycled 7,750 pounds of white goods. Our last e-waste event was extremely successful with 1,050 pounds of electronic waste collected to be recycled with the only R2 state-certified recycler in Louisiana.  KBB created the first program in our state to incorporate recycling into corrections with the Bossier Parish Prisons Recycle initiative, a partnership with Bossier Sheriff's Office and the Bossier Parish Police Jury on a multicomplex prison facility. This flagship program was presented to Governor Edwards and Keep Louisiana Beautiful affiliates in the state. This program is accepted as a "Best Practice" and information was distributed at the 2022 Police Jury Association of Louisiana

We could not do this work without the support of many generous agencies, sponsors, and volunteers. We are proud to report that in 2022 we recycled 8,020 pounds of waste material, collected 39,380 pounds of debris, and served with 1,307 wonderful volunteers working more than 7,400 hours. Our donation to the community was $213,299 of in-kind service, an increase of 27% from 2021. We are proud to do this work, please join us.  We need you!
