The Mission of The Bridge Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center is to provide resources, education, and support services for those in our community diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, as well as to their family members and caregivers, and to promote awareness in our community.

The Vision: Creating a community where no one affected by Alzheimer's and dementia makes the journey alone.

The Program benefits people through a Comprehensive Support System for Persons Affected by Alzheimer's and Dementia in Northwest Louisiana providing services, education and resources and promoting awareness in the community

We serve the 9 parishes in Northwest Louisiana by:

  1. Strengthening families’ and caregivers' mental health

  3. Creating a dementia-friendly community

The program provides resources, education, and support services and outreach to promote awareness including but is not limited to: RESOURCES: memory screenings, local resource directory, monthly e-newsletter, annual report, lending/video library, support brochures, website www.alzbridge.org, and collaboration with LSU Health Shreveport, Center for Brain Health.

  • EDUCATION: Education for caregivers, healthcare providers and first responders, curriculum development for professionals, support group facilitator training, monthly education workshops, speaker’s bureau for caregiver training and self-care, annual educational conference.
  • SUPPORT SERVICES: Care navigation, professional counseling & assessments, case management, facilitation of 14 support groups, coordination with assisted living and memory care facilities, referrals to and from professionals including physicians, and a helpline: Mon.-Fri. 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM.

CLIENT CAREGIVER

“I can’t thank you enough for spending so much time with us yesterday. It is so comforting to have someone to turn to answer all of our questions and point us in the direction we need to go. As I sat there yesterday listening to you all you had to offer, I thought Shreveport is so lucky to have someone like you to help the elderly as well their family and caregivers. You are a blessing to our community. Thank you!”
