We are a group from all backgrounds and faiths, who have been putting our feet to our faith in the Cedar Grove neighborhood of Shreveport for more than 20 years.
A lot goes on every week at Common Ground--from our weekly community meal and client-choice food pantry on Thursday nights to our after school programs and summer camps. We focus much of our time on children, teens, and their families, believing we have the best chance of breaking the cycle of poverty by starting early. On any given day, you might find Moms and toddlers and preschoolers working on early reading skills through our Mommy and Me program, or you might find teen and tween boys playing basketball after receiving help with their schoolwork. It's also possible that you will comes across adults playing bingo and learning about health and wellness, or you might find teen girls learning financial literacy skills or self-defense.
We are taking full advantage of our newly renovated spaces and have continued to host our annual events like our Fall Fest and Christmas Market, as well as providing space for community health opportunities like vaccine clinics and the St. Luke's Mobile Medical Clinic. We invite you to come and see us, or you can look for us out and about as we take the Rotary Learning Bus into the neighborhood to spread the message of ensuring that kids ages 0-5 are ready to read when they enter kindergarten.
Please join with us as we continue to offer opportunities for educational, personal, and spiritual growth for children, teens, and their families.
