Goodwill Industries of North Louisiana is all about putting people to work.

Our focus is taking donated items and turning them into revenue, which helps us fund job placement and training programs to any youth or adults with barriers, living in the 26 parishes of North Louisiana. Barriers to employment could be anything that is preventing someone from finding a job - from a disability to a criminal background, to not knowing anyone in the area. Specifically, we have programs in Shreveport, Bossier City, Monroe, Alexandria and Natchitoches that are dedicating to serving people with disabilities, criminal backgrounds, youth in the foster care system, those who have dropped out of high school, or anyone that walks through our door needing help. Everyone deserves a chance to be successful and support themselves and their families. Goodwill provides that chance and gives them a sense of purpose. And the best part is our services are FREE -- thanks to our store sales and your donations!

Last year, Goodwill operated more than 22 workforce development programs at one of the five Goodwill Job Centers supporting the 26 parishes of North Louisiana. Annually, these programs serve more than 2,500 individuals and placed more than 400 individuals into employment. The job retention rate of these individuals employed at 90 days averages more than 80%, with an average wage that exceeds $12.00 per hour.

Here's one story to inspire you to give:  Meet Amanda Parks.....

Amanda came to Goodwill and was facing significant challenges, including legal issues and early parenthood which led her to drop out of school in the 11th grade. Despite these obstacles, Amanda made the courageous decision to pursue her GED at the age of 23.

Through hard work, determination and perseverance, Amanda completed her GED, marking a significant milestone in her educational journey.  Today, Amanda is thriving, working diligently at two jobs which Goodwill helped her secure, while pursuing a chauffeur's license to further expand her career opportunities. Her dedication and commitment to self-improvement are commendable, serving as an inspiration to others facing similar challenges.

Amanda's resilience and achievements exemplify the transformative power of education and the potential for individuals to overcome adversity and achieve their goals. Thank you to everyone who supports the Goodwill mission!  #MoreThanAThriftStore
