James Samaritan

A nonprofit organization

Originally based out of Covington, Louisiana, we are launching a new mentoring program in the Monroe area called LIFE Network. The program will serve at risk youth ages 14-24 who are aging out of foster care. LIFE Network consists of three components: 1) LIFE Line, which is a helpline for youth, foster parents and community partners to call when they have a need, 2) LIFE Coaches, which is our one-to-one mentoring for youth ages 14-24 who are aging out of foster care, and 3) LIFE Group, which will serve as an "extended family" to the youth and LIFE Coach. Our local Youth Connection Center in Monroe will give the youth in our program a safe and nurturing environment to connect with their mentors, work on life skills and goals, complete college and job applications and get to know other foster youth who can share their experiences.

Mission

We connect the community and church to create healthy support systems for at-risk youth and families. We empower the family unit to reduce the need for government intervention, by mobilizing and equipping local communities to meet the critical needs of our youth in foster care, right where they are. We desire to create a culture where our most invisible and vulnerable are better supported and empowered. A James Samaritan sees the needs of our children and families and responds.
