We guide children and families home to experience God's love by following the teachings of Christ.
The Methodist Children's Home of Southeast Louisiana is a vital resource for children and families in the Greater New Orleans area-and across the state of Louisiana-with severe behavioral health needs. Our MCHSELA is a program of Louisiana United Methodist Children and Family Services (LUMCFS), a faith-based nonprofit with a mission of guiding children and families home to experience God's love by following the teachings of Christ.
The new Methodist Children's Home of Southeast Louisiana (MCHSELA) opened its doors in 2022! MCHSELA is our organization's permanent Home and the base of our operations in Southeast Louisiana for our next 100 years of ministry to children and families. Our new Home provides residential care for up to 32 children with significant emotional and behavioral needs.
Testimonials
"When I go home I will not go back to my old ways because I want to change to make myself better. I want a better life and acceptance from my family."
"I remember the person I was about a year ago. I was unsure, and often found myself confused, anxious, and depressed…But today, I am a different person. I have learned to have an understanding of my individuality, I voice my thoughts, and to stand up for what I believe in. I have learned to lead, not just follow. I have learned to be confident in my abilities and to trust my instincts."
