Lama Animal Rescue and Support Services

LaMa Animal Rescue and Support Services is a partnership that originated between a group of volunteers who saw the need to be an advocate for the many abandoned and abused animals in North Webster Parish, Louisiana (LA) united with our northern counterparts of compassionate fosters in Massachusetts (MA).

LaMa focuses on saving stray, abused and abandoned animals in need in Northwest Louisiana and the surrounding areas. Our mission is to educate the community on the importance of spay/neuter and regular medical care.  This year at Webster Parish's first and only no-kill animal shelter we opened our in-house clinic.  Now, we are able to provide all LaMa dogs and cats with medical treatments, vaccinations, health exam, and testing.  Once the animal is healthy, they are scheduled for transport to pre-approved rescues in the New England area where they quickly find their forever homes.

With the help of our donors, volunteers, and fosters, we have been able to help 3,953 as of April 1, 2026.  We currently have 41 heartworm positive dogs and 52 heartworm negative dogs.  

Our goal for 2026 is to stay open and continue to provide vet care in-house teaming up with a licensed DVM to provide top quality veterinary care while, also, cutting our overhead costs.
