$15,000 Goal

Dear Pet Savers Family,

It’s that time of year again—Give for Good is almost here! Early giving begins April 21, and the main day of giving is May 5. We are excited to participate once again and we’re asking for your support to help us reach our $15,000 fundraising goal this year.

Last year, thanks to your generosity, we were able to update our facilities, which allowed us to comfortably house more dogs and improve their quality of life. Many communities across the country are actively searching for dogs to adopt, so we have partnered with our northern neighbors to increase our adoptions by safely transporting them to partner shelters where families are waiting to adopt. This gives each dog a better chance at finding a loving home.

Let us tell you a bit more about who we are:

Pet Savers is a no-kill shelter located at 4380 Noyes Drive in Shreveport, founded 20 years ago by Linda Shemwell. We currently provide a safe and loving home to around 65 dogs and 30 cats, many of whom come from heartbreaking situations—pets left behind after owners pass away, strays rescued from dangerous conditions, or dogs pulled from euthanasia lists at the last moment. As soon as we have space, we take in more.

Before any animal is adopted, they are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, tested, and given the care they need to thrive. Our team includes a volunteer executive director, a small but dedicated staff, and caring volunteers who treat every animal like family.

Even though we’re proud to remain debt-free, our monthly operating costs can reach $15,000. Veterinary care, food, maintenance, and utilities add up fast—even with rescue discounts.

We know we can’t offer individual incentives, but if we meet our donation goals, we’ll be able to do something even more meaningful—treat our cats and pups here at Pet Savers to the enrichment, care, and love they deserve.

So please, consider making a donation during early giving (April 21 – May 4) or on Give for Good Day, May 5. You can also create your own fundraising page to help us spread the word and reach even more people who care about animal welfare.

Together, we can continue this life-saving work and give every pet the chance they deserve.

With gratitude,

The Pet Savers Team
