Stage Center is currently in our 15th season! Through the past several years, we have been able to expand our opportunities as an arts organization because of your generous donations through GIVE FOR GOOD!

In the past 14 years, Stage Center has:

-fully produced over 100 theatrical productions, almost entirely created right here in SBC.
-started a School of Performing Arts; teaching children ages 8-18 theater techniques & giving performance opportunities for young actors. In 2013, we created a Performance Team, which consists of students under the age of 18 who want to train in the inter-disciplinary art form of musical theater year-round. Each year the Team travels to the International Junior Theater Festival to perform and take class with other artistic students and professionals from around the world. Our first group consisted of only nine students. In 2026, over 30 students joined the ranks of our team that has brought home awards in Excellent Individual Performances (six times!), Ensemble work, Dance, & Music! Our 2019 production of Disney's Aladdin received perfect scores across the board from our adjudication panel, and our 2021 production of Disney's The Lion King received recognition as Outstanding Performance, the highest honor presented at the festival. The SOPA Performance Team has traveled to JTF thirteen times, and plans to attend again in 2027.
-employed over 150 local technicians, designers, creative team members
-brought in 15+ professional guest artists from other markets yearly. In 2017, we began to work with Actor's Equity Association, the union for professional actors and stage managers under a special agreement for burgeoning organizations like ours. This partnership has continued, with at least one professional artist being hired each season, in addition to the creative individuals we regularly employ to create quality shows right here in SBC.
-employed 100+ local musicians
-cast over 500 local & pre-professional actors in the NWLA area
-partnered with local elementary schools to offer inexpensive school-day preview performances of Theater for Young Audience shows

Mission

Stage Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, semi-professional community theater that aims to produce musicals and plays using professional and volunteer actors, advanced student actors, and other community-based artists at the highest caliber of professionalism and talent. In addition to our productions, we are dedicated to educating and preparing the next generation of theater lovers and theater makers through high-quality, multidisciplinary student arts programs, to enrich the lives of Louisianians. We aim to work on new material as well as retelling classic work to inspire and engage our community.
