Company Repertory Theatre

Company Repertory Theatre produces mainstage shows at the East Bank Theatre and serves our community with performances and interactive activities for senior living communities, skilled care residences, and schools. Although we have an all-volunteer board who run the day to day operations, Company Rep is committed to paying honoraria to our performers and crew. We are a unique theatre company in this regard in the SBC, and we are proud to help make it possible for performers and creatives to live--and thrive--in our area. 

Building on the success of our sold out run of "Drinking Habits" at East Bank, we are thrilled to be in pre-production for our end-of-summer comedy, Shakespeare's "The Merry Wives of Windsor" (August 29-31). We also have educational programs we are eager to implement in our schools, including our newest "Shakespeare Gets Schooled" program, introducing kids to the genre, as well as a meaningful new program for our senior communities, celebrating their stories.

Since its founding in 1994 by Actors Mary Joris, Pamela Captain, Dick King, and the late Richard Folmer, the Company has made its presence known throughout Bossier and Caddo Parishes as well as many states throughout the country. Here at home, thanks to a Decentralized Arts Fund Grant from the State of Louisiana, we have taken Shakespeare into middle and high schools, performing and coaching students in a twenty minute version of the Shakespeare play monologue they have been studying.

Thanks to the grant, we formed the touring group "Theatre Eclectic." Characters from history travel to middle and high schools as well as to assisted living centers, Councils on Aging, and various civic organizations to present a 20 - 30 minute historical sketch of the person. The actors research, write and costume each character and reveal interesting and little known facts about each. Captain Henry Miller Shreve, Marie LaVeau, Ma Rainey, Harriet Tubman, Winston Churchill, Benjamin Franklin, Maria Von Trapp, Marilyn Monroe, and C.S Lewis are among the characters presented.

"Senior Stars" was formed to highlight 50+ year-old actors performing short, comedic plays on a wide range of topics. Recently, working with the Shreveport Little Theatre, we have expanded the program to venues outside Bossier Parish, as well.
