For nearly 40 years, MLK Health Center & Pharmacy has been a place where neighbors care for neighbors.
What began as a simple idea—that no one should have to face illness alone—has grown into a lifeline for thousands of uninsured adults across Northwest Louisiana. From our earliest days, we’ve stood in the gap for those who fall into the space of “too much to qualify, not enough to afford,” ensuring access to care when it matters most.
Today, that mission continues.
When you support MLK Health, you are not just meeting a need—you are becoming part of a 40-year legacy of compassion, dignity, and community care.
There is a common misconception that free clinics only serve those in extreme poverty. In reality, most of the patients we serve are working, doing everything they can to support themselves and their families.
But when healthcare is out of reach, even one diagnosis can force an impossible choice: pay for medicine or pay the bills.
For four decades, MLK Health has made sure our neighbors don’t have to make that choice.
Because of supporters like you, patients receive life-saving care, medications, and ongoing support—at no cost—so they can focus on healing, not surviving.
For 40 years, we have walked alongside patients facing chronic illness, providing:
Every service is rooted in one belief: no one should struggle alone with their health.
Our Women's Health Program
For decades, we have seen firsthand how early detection saves lives.
Through our Women’s Health Program, uninsured women receive critical screenings that would otherwise go missed. In just a short period, screenings identified multiple women with breast cancer—connecting them to treatment that may have saved their lives.
This is what 40 years of community care looks like: showing up early, standing beside patients, and never letting them walk the journey alone.
This KSLA-produced documentary features the real-life stories of uninsured patients struggling with chronic disease in Northwest Louisiana and our efforts to close the gap in healthcare for people without insurance. Click below to begin watching.
As we celebrate 40 years of service, we are not slowing down—we are building the next chapter.
Your gift today ensures that this legacy continues for the next patient, the next family, and the next generation.
Join us in carrying this mission forward.
