OUR VISION

We strive to make our city a vibrant and biodiverse community where citizens can forge deeper connections with their environment by actively engaging in tree planting, food cultivation, waste reduction, litter cleanups, and environmental stewardship. At the heart of our mission lies the goal to reignite both individual and collective bonds with nature, fostering a deeper appreciation and commitment to the well-being of our surroundings.

OUR FOCUS

  • Regenerative Sustainability: Educating by exemplifying processes that restore, renew, and revitalize ecosystems and communities; regenerative agriculture methods, native plant and naturalist education, and local farmer support.

  • Tree Canopy Restoration: Planting trees, free tree distributions, educating about proper planting techniques, and benefits of trees on biodiversity and health.

  • Community Greening & Environmental Enhancement: Improving the visual and environmental aspects of our communities through programs that beautifully and naturally restore our environment including community gardens, vacant lot restoration, highway and waterway enhancement, and native plantings.

  • Healthy Lifestyle: Encouraging healthy living through the cultivation of community gardens, local food choices, healthy food preparation, and improving access to local fruits & vegetables through our Mobile Market.

  • Litter Prevention: Defining litter; identifying the causes; reducing it by organizing cleanups; and promoting the proper handling of discarded waste in our communities.

Waste Reduction: Reducing the impact of solid waste in our community through integrated programs including responsible consumerism, source reduction and reuse, composting, recycling & upcycling, education about landfills, and proper household hazardous waste disposal.

ShreveCorps Needs You Now More Than Ever

As of April 27, 2025, Shreveport Green received devastating news: the Division of Grants and Engagement (DOGE) terminated $400 million in federal funding for AmeriCorps programs nationwide—including our very own ShreveCorps.

For years, ShreveCorps members have worked tirelessly to transform neglected lots across Shreveport into vibrant, healthy spaces. Through litter cleanup, invasive species removal, native habitat restoration, fruit orchards, and community gardens, we’ve brought over 20 acres of land back to life—and back to the people.

Now, without this critical funding, those 20 acres are at risk of falling back into neglect. So is the future of a program that has empowered hundreds of young people to serve their communities, earn education awards, and pursue meaningful green careers in environmental science, agriculture, and conservation.

This isn’t just a loss of funding—it’s a loss of opportunity, resilience, and hope for the neighborhoods that need it most.

We are urgently working to raise $100,000 to keep ShreveCorps alive. With your support, we can sustain this vital work, bridge the gap left by federal cuts, and invest in the next generation of environmental leaders.

Join us in protecting our land, our youth, and our shared future.
