LTP Medical Mobile Inc dba The Health Hut

The Health Hut is a non-profit primary care health clinic that serves the residents of Lincoln Parish who do not have health insurance. The Health Hut operates out of a fixed, physical clinic location in Ruston, but also has a mobile clinic that travels to the more rural, underserved locations of Simsboro, Dubach, and Grambling to ensure that all residents of Lincoln Parish have access to primary healthcare. Lincoln Parish residents are able to utilize the services of The Health Hut at no cost. Services provided include: medical screenings, routine lab work, treatment of mild acute illnesses and injuries, management of chronic disease, follow up care, specialty referrals when needed, wellness education, and professional counseling services. The Health Hut is staffed by a physician medical director, two nurse practitioners, three nurses, and a professional counselor who are all licensed in the State of Louisiana.

The Health Hut strives to ascertain that all residents of Lincoln Parish have access to healthcare despite not having health insurance. Despite recent and ongoing healthcare reforms, numerous residents of Lincoln Parish remain uninsured, mostly due to the high costs of health insurance. Providing healthcare to the uninsured reduces unnecessary and financially crippling emergency room visits, and allows for screening, early diagnosis, and treatment of common chronic health problems.

The Health Hut works to prevent chronic disease and its progression by providing education to the uninsured population in collaboration with other community agencies and universities. The Health Hut provides treatment of acute illnesses and chronic diseases to prevent disability and early death. It also offers mental health services for those who would normally go without. Additionally, The Health Hut has a bilingual medical assistant on staff to provide translation services for the Spanish-speaking residents of Lincoln Parish.

With the recent expansion of Medicaid in Louisiana, The Health Hut agreed to become a Medicaid provider as a safety net for Medicaid patients without a primary care provider.
