1. To be eligible to participate in Give for Good, an organization must be a 501(c)(3) public charity and have received a ruling letter from the IRS stating the entity is a qualified recipient of tax-deductible gifts.
- An organization cannot have a Give For Good profile if it has not completed the process with the IRS to receive 501(c)(3) public charity status.
- An organization will also need to be current in its filings with the Louisiana Secretary of State.
2. An organization must have a physical address and provide services in one or more of the following 14 parishes: Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, DeSoto, Jackson, Lincoln, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Ouachita, Red River, Sabine, Union, or Webster.
- If an organization’s primary operating address is outside of the 14-parish area but provides services and has staff and/or volunteers located in the above-listed parishes, the organization may write to the Community Foundation for an exception.
3. Umbrella or pass-through organizations are not eligible for participation.
4. Churches are not eligible to participate in Give For Good.
- Exceptions may be made for organizations classified as churches by the IRS, but whose primary function is the delivery of non-sectarian, charitable services. Exceptions must be requested in writing 10 days prior to the application deadline. All exceptions will be made solely at the discretion of the Community Foundation.
5. Funds raised through Give For Good must be used for services in the 14 parishes listed above.
6. One organization per tax identification number is eligible to participate. Organizations with multiple programs must register under their legal entity name and cannot register each program separately.
- For example, an eligible organization operates a food pantry in one location and a youth center at another, both under the same federal tax ID number. The organization is allowed one Give For Good profile. Under the organizational description, the organization may highlight both programs, but donors cannot restrict their donations to a particular program through Give For Good.
- If an organization is operating under a different name than its legal name (i.e., with a DBA), the organization may write to the Community Foundation for an exception.
7. An organization may not participate in Give for Good if it has outstanding CFNLA grant reports.
8. Community Foundation of North Louisiana has final discretion in approving organizations for participation and may exclude any organization not meeting all eligibility or other requirements.
