The Shreveport Little Theatre (SLT) was established in 1922 and has continued to produce live theatrical productions in the historic Highland neighborhood since that time 102-years ago.

Welcome to Shreveport Little Theatre & Academy, a vibrant non-profit organization fueled by the passion and dedication of our volunteer-based community and board of directors. With a rich history unmatched in American community theatre, SLT engages over 20,000 audience members annually and boasts a dedicated membership exceeding 500 individuals. This season, we are proud to present 11 captivating productions, showcasing the breadth and depth of talent within our community.

At SLT, inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do. We take pride in being a community theatre that truly reflects the diversity of our entire community. Our programs are intentionally designed to be ethnically and racially diverse, with African Americans participating in all facets of SLT. Through SLT Academy, open to students from kindergarten to twelfth grade, we specifically target and engage underserved and high-risk youth from our diverse community. Thousands of students have already benefited from our inclusive approach, and we ensure that no one is turned away from SLT Academy due to financial constraints.

Moreover, our veteran Outreach instructors continue their invaluable work with the clients of local social service agencies, further extending our impact beyond the stage. At SLT, we believe in the transformative power of theatre and are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment where all members of our community can thrive.

Testimonials

Cody Steele reviewed Shreveport Little Theatre:
"I am so impressed with this theatre--I cannot list all the reasons why...."

Charlene Morrison reviewed Shreveport Little Theatre:
"I always know I am going to leave the theater feeling better than when I went in. Everyone just seems to be happy and friendly. There is not a bad seat in the house, and the actors do such a wonderful job. The stage props are done beautifully, the lighting is excellent, and the whole atmosphere is warm and inviting."

Nicole Brice reviewed Shreveport Little Theatre and Academy:

"Max has flourished and found his 2nd home at Shreveport Little Theater. Laura Beeman Nugent, Nathan Gay, Kelly Berne, and all of the senior academy students who work with the junior students day in and day out are truly amazing and such a wonderful gift to our community. Here the focus is on progress not perfection. They want all the kids to be themselves and have fun putting on incredibly entertaining stage productions. They don’t try to force anyone to be someone they are not; everyone has a place here."
