The Arc Caddo-Bossier’s Goldman School and Child Development Centers are a Type III, licensed, three-star quality rated child development center and Early Head Start program for children ages 8 weeks to 5 years old. Goldman School, The Arc Caddo-Bossier’s founding program, was started in 1954 by parents of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. With little to no educational opportunities for children with disabilities at the time, these families put their heads together to create opportunities themselves. They knew that, if given the right tools and resources, their sons and daughters were just as capable of learning and developing as other children.
Today, more than 70 years later, the Goldman School provides childcare, early education, and intervention services in a fully inclusive environment where children with disabilities learn and grow alongside their typically developing peers. According to the Louisiana Policy Institute for Children, it is the only preschool in Louisiana offering a fully inclusive environment for children with and without disabilities.
