Louisiana Key Academy Caddo Campus
Louisiana's Premier School for Students with Dyslexia is coming to Shreveport, Louisiana!
Louisiana Key Academy Caddo Campus (LKA Caddo) will open in August 2023. LKA Caddo will serve students with dyslexia in Caddo parish and the surrounding areas, offering a full day of specialized instruction. LKA Caddo is currently enrolling students in grades 1–4 for Fall 2023 and will expand to grades 1–8 over the next five years.
As a free public charter school, LKA Caddo will give parents the power to provide their children with exceptional educational resources, regardless of their current financial standings. At LKA, we believe a great education should be accessible to all students with dyslexia.
Dyslexia occurs in 1 out of 5 children; when not identified, these children are less likely to finish school or attend college. LKA offers a solution to this problem. Children at LKA are identified as dyslexic and are taught to read, giving them back their self-esteem.
An Education Built Around Student Needs
At Louisiana Key Academy, our specially trained team of educators is redefining what it means to learn through the lens of dyslexia, creating an inspiring and results-oriented educational environment designed to help students thrive.
LKA believes that students with dyslexia should be identified early and given the education necessary to reach their full potential. Students will receive 90 minutes of specialized reading instruction daily. This instruction occurs in groups of 6 or fewer and is taught by a trained dyslexia educator. Our approach is key to creating an environment that helps students with dyslexia love learning again.
All LKA teachers are trained to teach children with dyslexia through an IMSLEC-accredited center, the Dyslexia Resource Center. LKA teachers spend one to two years learning about dyslexia so they understand the science behind dyslexia and what that looks like in the classroom.
We don't just teach. We create opportunities for students to absorb new concepts through multiple modalities and interdisciplinary learning. Together, we are empowering students to succeed at their highest potential.
More than a School for Dyslexia
We're more than a school. We're a community of passionate educators, parents, and students with a deeply vested interest in transforming how students with dyslexia receive the education they deserve. Founded with care and compassion by a board-certified M.D. and proud parents of children with dyslexia, LKA is paving the way for brighter futures.
