One of my own earliest memories as a student was the day Junior Achievement came to my elementary school classroom. A man who wasn’t our teacher came in to talk to us about “real-life” business concepts. That day, we learned about the efficiencies of assembly line production. But what has stuck with me most is not the lesson itself, but the impact it made. That single JA class stood out so vividly that I still remember it all these years later. As an adult, I realized how powerful that experience was—and how meaningful it could be to create that same moment of inspiration for students today by giving a little of my own time.
Now, as both Chairman of the Board and a JA classroom volunteer for the past 10 years, I can tell you there’s nothing quite like seeing students’ faces light up when they realize they are in charge of their own futures. Through JA lessons, they begin to understand their role in the community and see the opportunities available to them to make it a better place to live and work.
As a JA board member, I'm personally committing to our Give for Good campaign on May 6th. Will you join me in supporting JA's mission to expand financial literacy across North Louisiana? Early giving starts April 22nd. Your donation helps us reach our goal and transform young lives.
